| Cities for Mobility in German Television "Deutsche Welle" |
 The German TV channel
Deutsche Welle will broadcast in August a documentary titled "Getting the
Ball Rolling - Brazil’s Preparations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup" which
illustrates the support Brazilian cities receive by Cities for Mobility and the
City of Stuttgart in this challenging process of preparation for the second most
important media event in the world.
As the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro loom large on the event horizon, Brazil's efforts to regulate its traffic problems increase in urgency. Stuttgart is transferring its experience as host city of the World Cup 2006 especially to Porto Alegre and Belo Horizonte in the field of urban transport. The global network Cities for Mobility plays an important role in giving visibility to the Brazilian host cities and in building close linkages between them and other cities and stakeholders world wide. The Deutsche Welle movie shows in a very dynamic and striking way how the cooperation works in concrete with the host cities taking into account the overall social, economic and ecological situation Brazil is undergoing in the last years. Deutsche Welle is Germany’s international broadcaster that produces television, radio and online content in 30 languages, its programs are broadcasted in 190 countries. It provides a European perspective to its global audience and promotes intercultural dialogue.
