|CIVITAS Forum Conference 2016 in Gdynia (Poland) successfully concluded|
It was a great pleasure for the CIVITAS team and the City of Gdynia to invite the CIVITAS community to the FORUM Conference 2016 on 28-30 September in Gdynia, under the theme "SHAPING THE MOBILITY OF TOMORROW". The event gathered hundreds of CIVITAS stakeholders from around Europe, all of whom are devoted to the development of sustainable urban mobility in their cities. The three-day conference offered collaborative workshops, state-of-the-art presentations and interesting site visits. It was also our pleasure to have Vice-President of the EC Energy Union Šef?ovi? present at the opening day of the conference.
Together with Gdansk and Sopot, Gdynia forms a very modern and competitive Tri-city Metropolitan Area, which belongs to the largest, most diverse and most commonly visited urban areas in Poland. The choice of Gdynia for the host city of 2016 Conference was a natural continuum for the city's dedication to its fully sustainable development. Gdynia has numerous success stories in implementing transport plans, clean energy initiatives and in citizen engagement. The city has always been an active participant in the CIVITAS programme and it is a leader in many sustainable mobility measures in Europe, thus providing an interesting and rich environment for the conference theme. The city has been recognised for its commitment as the winner of many national and European awards in the field of sustainable transport. It was also voted as the Polish city that has undergone the largest development and change in the last 25 years. (Source: CIVITAS).
