Urban Mobility Committee
The Urban Mobility Committee will meet in the framework of the World Congress of Cities for Mobility on July 6, 2010 in Stuttgart. The congress with the theme "better mobility, better economy" will offer discussions on key factors for the local economy which at the same time are a challenge for the control of urban mobility:

  • The mobility of large numbers of visitors (Tourism, Pilgrimage, Sports, Culture)
  • The consequences of new forms of urban mobility (electric mobility, car sharing, parking management, shared space)
  • The pedestrian as an important factor for the economic, ecological and social situation in the cities.

Another topic of the meeting of the Committee is the information on the four European projects GO PEDELEC! (electric bicycles, 2009-2011), ACTIVE ACCESS (pedestrians, 2009-2011), LECODENET (capacity building, 2010-2012) and SUMPA-MED (urban mobility in the Mediterranean, 2010-2012). The city of Florianopolis, Brazil, is preparing the "First Forum of the Americas on mobility in cities" on 22 - 24 March 2010.

The second meeting of the Committee will take part at the UCLG World Congress in Mexico City in November 2010.

The publication "Agenda 21 for urban mobility" can be downloaded from the Committee’s website (http://www.cities-for-mobility.net/uclg).
